Budget Sports segment!!! ok now let me think again!!! Yes its a new segment and also an evolving segment as customers now these days want sports car in low costs and if someone is looking for a power packed sports car. He has to spend more than 1 crore and if we look at the BMW Z4 we can easily say it is a budget sports car and it is good news for people who are looking cars in this segment as now the new Z4 uses BMW’s Cluster Architecture (CLAR) and it’s got a raft of changes like the new design as it has made Z4 look more aggressive, rough, edgy & sporty. Is it worth your buy we will find out.
When we talk about looks I am so impressed it looks like a stunner and especially the new headlights of new BMW Z4 as these lights are new in shape and so unique and not like the regular BMW models thus it also helps to give it a more fresher and modern look. Good job done by BMW engineers here. I also liked the new kidney shaped grille which gave much more mature stance and look to the car. The hashtag shaped DRL also looks cool with some good styling cues.
What I don’t like is the length of the car which I found to be very short. At only 4324mm the car I think feels a bit shorter in length as compared to a sports car. The back of the car is also very fab as the new swept back headlamps will make u go fall in love with the car. As by exteriors the car looks fantastic and appealing.
The interiors of the car also are very fresh and new. Lots of interesting bits are there like the introduction of new touchscreen display screen on the car also known as BMW’s latest cockpit type. What makes it worse is that in Sport mode the needles disappear, and the speedo and tacho display looks a bit awkward which is not very nice, The bucket seats, which are very comfy and supportive and helps to hold you well at higher speeds so that you don’t get bouncing with the speed of the car.
Boot space is 281 litres and importantly, it’s deep enough to take in one large check-in suitcase and for a car like this boot space is pretty large. The fantastic thing about BMW’s 10.25-inch touchscreen which is a breeze to use.
ENGINE & PERFORMANCE:-
Where BMW stands out from it’s rivals is it’s engine and performance. BMW has powered the Z4 in India in two versions – the sDrive20i, which has a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine making 197hp; and the M40i, with a larger 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that pumps out a far healthier 340hp. Both cars are powered by 8 speed transmission and are real wheel driven. Well when u have the power of 340 horses to make u smile then why to waste time and just as u push the accelerator all the power comes into action and one of the best part is at any style u drive, You will never feel u are out of power and overtaking is very easy and obviously it’s not surprising for the car of this calibre
And where the handling is concerned this car can grab your attention by its sharp handling cutting the edges over the twisted ghat sections of roads but when u need that sports car like punch BMW Z4 still cannot do justice with its roles and it’s more of a luxury 2 seater. Surely it has power but not that kind of track car feel u get in other sports car. Though a well engineered and an excellent car with loads of handling character, Still buy this only if u want a stylish yet luxury cruiser.
